The best blogs in the blogosphere have thousands of blog subscribers, whether it is through email, or RSS. How did they do it, and how can you do it too?
Here are 5 strategies for you to implement right away.
1. Make subscription options available and obvious.
I've seen many blog with teeny weeny RSS icons that are found all the way down the page in the footer - or some blogs which don't even have the RSS icon at all. How would you expect your reader to even know if you provide RSS subscriptions options in this case?
Make your subscriptions obvious, and ask for them. The best place for you to put this is at the bottom of each post. Consider also, providing alternatives such as email subscriptions.
2. Write articles that are focused and are useful for your niche
The key to success on the web is in the niche. A blog needs to be niche, and it needs to provide quality and useful information to that niche. Make you stay on topic every time you make a new post - if your blog is about dogs, don't post about how you faired in your golf session last week. Staying focus pumps up the quality of your blog and automatically ropes in subscribers.
3. Give something for free
People start to drool when they see anything free on the net. So give them what they want and they will give you want you want. Offer something for free for your subscribers, may it be an ebook, a report, or an e-course. Doing this for email subscribers is easy, because you can simply configure your autoresponder to send them the freebie, but for RSS subscribers, you

The wonderful thing about having series of related posts is that it makes the reader want to come back for more... and for those who are clever, they will subscribe to your feed so they don't miss out on anything. After you are done with the series, let it rest for a while, then convert the series of posts into a line of emails, add an introductory email and then set it off as an email series on your sidebar.
5. Market your blog like crazy
In marketing, there are three ways to earn more money - to get a higher percentage of prospects to buy, to get each prospect to buy more, or to get more prospects. Apply this to blog marketing, even though the same person may not subscribe to your feed twice, you can use the other two ways - so when you have done your best in getting people to subscribe, the next step is to get more people to visit your blog!
